Amaranth is the flower the old poets swore would never fade — and the color named for it, a red with dusk in it. Here that color is an oval lab-created ruby, raised in four claw prongs between two round brilliant lab-created white sapphires: the classic trilogy, one stone each for what was, what is, and what will be.
